This place has gone through some history over the years. In 1935 a recreation area and a villa area were built here, after the war there was a recreation centre and a restaurant and since 2023 we are writing a new chapter. Now you can join it.
At the end of the nineteenth century, the newly founded Club of Czech Tourists marked its first hiking trail from Štěchovice to the Svatojanské proudy. Streams feared by rafters, became a tourist attraction and river cruises were organised. Especially in the period of the First Republic, the Svatojanské proudy and the canyon of the dammed Vltava River were a great tourist attraction.
During the summer months, whole families came to sublet their homes to local cottagers and with the tourist traffic came a boom in small businesses in the area.
The Bondy family, the relatively new owners of the Slapy estate, decided to take advantage of the growing popularity of the location. They came up with a generous project for a recreational area called the Letovisko Slap (The Resort Slapy). The wooded hill Vyhlídka and the surrounding hillsides were divided into hundreds of plots for the construction of holiday cottages and villas.
Roads, a water supply system, an electricity line, a hunting range, a forest swimming pool and, in the very centre of these plots, the restaurant Lesní restaurace Na Vyhlídce were built. Already in 1935 several model cottages and villas were built. Several advertising leaflets have been preserved from this time, which show the intention of the entrepreneurs.
During the war, the Slapy estate and the Slapy Resort were confiscated as Jewish property and the Bondys were forced to leave the country.
The confiscated recreational facilities were used by Nazi officers.
The restaurant building was used as a judicial recreation centre. Shortly after the war, the Slapy estate returned to the hands of its sole owner, Emil Bondy. But this would not last long, because after 1948 the Bondy family was forced to emigrate again and their property was nationalised.
The forest land, including the parcels at the viewpoint, was transferred to the administration of the national enterprise State Forests and Estates.
The restaurant building was first a recreation centre for employees of the State Forests and later for employees of the national enterprise Mikrotechna Modřany, which organised pioneer camps there.
Later, the premises became the property of the Czechoslovak Youth Union, which renovated the premises between 1970 and 1985, adding a caretaker’s building and four recreational cottages.
In 2001, as part of the restitution, most of the former Slapy estate was returned to the ownership of Gabriela Burke, daughter of Emil Bondy.
At that time the resort was operated by tenants as a restaurant with accommodation. Weddings and parties were held there. Unfortunately, since about 2003, the site had been abandoned and was beginning to deteriorate significantly.
In 2006 Gabriela Burke sold the property to ALTSTAEDTER INVESTMENTS a.s.
In 2023, a new chapter in the history of the resort begins to be written.
We are reopening the resort with a renovated restaurant, newly built log cabins and peaceful surroundings. Weddings, corporate events and celebrations take place at the resort.
Looking for the perfect place for a party or corporate event? A place surrounded by nature and undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of civilization? A place where there is plenty of space outdoors and under the roof for any activity, with a large accommodation capacity, with rooms for lectures and parties? You have just found it.
The resort is surrounded by beech forests and there are only a few cottages in the area. This means not only beautiful surroundings, but also peace and quiet for your boisterous celebrations!
